Pierce County Transit is the public
transportation service in Pierce County. This service is available to all
residents of Pierce County.
Where
We Can Take You
Pierce County Transit provides transportation to
doctor’s offices, grocery stores, medical appointments, pharmacies...anywhere in Pierce County!
Transportation service is also available for medical appointments outside of the
county within a 100 mile radius.
When
We Operate
The hours of service are Monday through
Friday 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
How to
Schedule a Ride
To request a ride call 449-1825 Monday through Friday between 6:30 am and 5:00
pm. Requests for transportation must be made 48 hours in advance. If you want to
ride on Monday your request must be made on Friday before 4:00 pm. Service is on
first come – first serve basis. Out of county trips must be scheduled at least
three(3) days in advance of the trip. If appointments are made less than three
(3) days in advance they will be taken on a space available basis.
Passenger Policies
· Please
be ready to meet your bus at the curb a few minutes before your scheduled
pick-up time.
· If
you will be unable to or choose not to take your scheduled trip, please contact
us to cancel as soon as possible, at least 1 hour before your scheduled pickup
time. No-shows waste resources which could other wise be used to transport
others. Persons who abuse this are subject to service cancellation and
suspension.
· Eating,
drinking, and smoking are not permitted on board Pierce County Transit vehicles.
Food and beverages may only be carried on board if securely closed in
spill-proof containers.
· Seats
at the front of the bus are reserved for seniors and persons with disabilities.
Please use these seats only if necessary.
· Please
do not talk to the operator while the vehicle is in motion. Safety is our top
priority, and your operator’s full attention needs to be on driving.
· Music
may only be played if headphones are used and volume is set low enough not to
disturb other passengers.
· Any
items left on board the bus will be taken to the office before the next time the
vehicle is put in service. If you believe you may have left something on board,
please call our office. Pierce Transit will not be responsible for any items
left on the bus but we will be happy to check for them.
· Riders
are only allowed to transport packages they are able to carry themselves.
Drivers are not required to assist with packages.
· Drivers
can assist passengers in boarding and disembarking the vehicle (or from door to
door). Drivers are not allowed to enter homes.
· Pets
are not permitted on board Pierce County Transit vehicles.
Accessible Service
Wheelchair-accessible service is available. When
you call to schedule your trip, please let us know of any assistance you may
need in boarding or disembarking from the vehicle. For the safety of all
passengers, our policy requires that wheelchairs be secured to the vehicle.
· Persons
using respirators or portable oxygen are permitted on vehicles,
· Service
animals accompanying individuals with disabilities are permitted,
· Personal
care attendants accompanying persons with disabilities are permitted.
Holiday
Schedule
Pierce
County Transit services do not operate on the following holidays: New
Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (4th of July), Labor Day,
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Fares
The
fare for service depends on the distance of your trip. The charge for each
one-way trip is:
$4.00….within a 10 miles radius
$6.00….within a 25 mile radius.
$13.00….within a 50 mile radius
$20.00..within a 100 mile radius
A senior citizen and
disability discount is available for 50% off the above rates.
Medical trips are charged
at Medicaid rates.
Tolls and parking charges
are not included in the above rates.
Please
have exact fare or ticket available when boarding. Drivers are not able to make
change.
10-ride
ticket books are available for purchase at the transit office from 8:00-4:00
at 312 Nichols Street.
Riders
with disabilities may be accompanied by an attendant or companion free of
charge. Additional companions will be charged the regular fare.
